If you’ve ever seen a levitation trick performed, you’ve probably noticed something fishy. You probably noticed the magician makes the person or object he is trying to float in a bowl of water, then uses some other device such as a mirror or “bell jar” to reflect light to it.
This has an effect on what spectators see because when light reflects off the objects surface, it creates the an illusion of being higher off the ground.
