The Indianapolis 500 Mini Marathon

This year’s event is sponsored by One America insurance team, will host Indiana Hoosier entrants in 49 states and 8 countries. The 2010 event has sold out for the ninth consecutive year with 35,000 entrants. Indiana audiences and Indianapolis fans are welcome to attend this free event, which includes the 500 Festival Mini Marathon Expo held May 6th and 7th in the Indianapolis Convention Center and the post race celebration, held in Military Park at the corner of New York and West Street in downtown Indianapolis.

The marathon will commence and the 5k will start from the same starting line as the Indy mini marathon, but participants will need to finish within 56 minutes to make room for the main event, which begins at 7:30am for wheel chair entrants and 7:33am for runners and walkers.

This mini marathon is world famous draws a bigger audience. Televised locally by WISH TV Channel 8, beginning at 6:30am ET (Eastern Standard Time). The Indy miniature begins at the intersection of Washington St. and West Street, then meanders indianapolis car rental through downtown Indianapolis streets supporting the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, circles the world famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway track before returning downtown into the finish line at New York and Blackford roads.

Over a hundred bands, cheer groups, disc jockeys, sports figures like Reggie Miller, and dancing troupes and local celebrities like magician Jon Finch, will provide Indiana residents with Indianapolis Indiana entertainment for the participants and spectators of this event. Beverages and food will be available at sites with the Indiana event.

Curbside parking is free on weekend. Though some roads will be closed to accommodate the competitors. Early-birds to the Indy mini may be able to get around the requirement for parking in a few of many commercial parking garages. More than 90 thousand Hoosiers and Indy residents are expected.
