A back palm is a card sleight in which a card is held flat against the back of the fingers, clipped at its corners between the first and little fingers, so the open palm can be shown empty. Magicians use it to make a card vanish from a seemingly empty hand and then reappear at the fingertips, often as one of a series of productions. The hand must face the audience squarely, because from the side the hidden card shows.
