The Great Mall Indianapolis IN 46250

Riding off the achievement of Lafayette Square Mall on the city side, DeBartolo proposed two additional, similar malls. Ground was broken for the mall 1970 and it opened in Indianapolis Indiana September 1972 with four anchors.

At that time, there was little improvement in Castleton Indiana. In the years that followed, growth sprang up on all sides adjacent to the mall, most of it retail using a few Indianapolis residential apartment complexes and office buildings near Indianapolis but within Indiana combined in. From the early 1990s, the Castleton corridor was built up.

In Hamilton County Indiana, construction was started in 1990 to get a fifth anchor on the south side of the mall. L. S. Ayres opened its Castleton Square place in 1992, and a sixth food and anchor court was added in 1999. The subsequent calendar year, the mall underwent an extensive renovation.

In 2012, the Hamilton County mall expanded both End Line and H&M, introduced Off Broadway Shoes to the Sears wing, moved Forever 21 into the prior Borders distance out front.

On May 31, 2018, it was declared that the Hamilton County Indiana Sears store would be closing in September 2018, along with 62 other Hoosiers across Indiana. Simon Malls of Indianapolis Indiana later on is going to have a redevelopment of the soon-to-be-vacant store in the mall. That way the shoppers can finish shopping then learn all about Indianapolis.

This climate controlled mall boasts four department stores, a food court, play area, and specialty stores which range to the fashions of women to sporting goods. Among the 130 stores, this shopping jar includes Forever 21, H&M, Build-A-Bear Workshop, Macy’s and Lego.

If you’re anything like Jon Finch, Indianapolis shoppers will find dining choices from a sit down restaurant such as McAlister’s Deli to grab and go options like Chick-fil-A or Maki of Japan. Top off your tour with a picture at our 14 screen AMC Theatre.
